SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – You may have noticed an increase in your electricity bill this summer. Eversource says it’s due to increased usage during warm summer months.

There has been no change in rates, according to Eversource. The company’s Spokesperson, Priscilla Ress, says your bill is a reflection of higher usage.

Ress explained air conditioners, fans, and other appliances are working overtime to keep things cool. Customers also use about 40 percent more energy in the summer months.

In a statement to 22News Ress says:

There have not been any recent rate changes reflected in the bills for July that customers have recently been receiving, so higher usage is the key factor at play here.
