SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – ReGreen Springfield and students in the Springfield Water & Sewer Commission’s Pipeline program gathered at Glendell Terrace in the Forest Park neighborhood to plant nine large trees.

These trees are being planted to provide more shade in the area and make Springfield more green. On top of planting these trees, they planted 150 pollinator plants in the new garden on the terrace.

The President of ReGreen Springfield told 22News that Glendell Terrace has been degrading and some trees had to be cut down over the last decade and this was one way to bring in some new trees.

It is a used area and we wanted to enhance that for them. With the new trees we are providing cleaner air, shade, beauty, and really enhancing the quality of life for residents living in the neighborhood.

Dave Bloniarz, President of Regreen Springfield

Bloniarz says people in the community should be proud about where they live and be able to use the green space. These tree plantings will be happening not just in the Forest Park neighborhood but across the city of Springfield.
