HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – In Holyoke, one local organization is providing a space for the givers of life.

A superpower in itself, motherhood requires women to be at their best for their families every day. But moms are human, and some days, the stress of motherhood takes a toll on the mind and body.

“I feel like as a mom we change in just mentally, but also physically as well, in kind of how we adjust to parenthood,” said Springfield mom Erin Robles.

One local mom is hoping to fix that. Kelsie Dwight recently started “A Mother’s Meditation”, an organization focused on creating programs and services for mothers’ well-being.

“I really wanted to bring a community of moms together just so they can, you know, do that for themselves, to give back for themselves,” said Dwight.

Sunday in Holyoke, this organization hosted a Wellness Walk through Ashley Reservoir and invited mothers and their families to come out and reduce any stress they may be feeling.

Experts say walking and physical activity can improve your mood by getting your heart rate up, which increases the release of endorphins and serotonin, those “feel-good” hormones that make us happy. For stressed mothers, this is crucial.

“Get some time for yourself so you can you know, stress, move around, exercise, get outside, see the beautiful outdoors around you,” added Dwight.

For those looking to relieve some of the pressures of motherhood, Dwight encourages you to join “A Mother’s Meditation”, get out, and enjoy nature with other moms.

“Start. Just start,” said Dwight. “Come join something like this and help gain a little more confidence in yourself.”

“This is a great way to find moms that will love you and care for you, and just kind of connect,” added Robles.

With their walk today, these mothers reduced some of the stress in their lives while simultaneously giving each other the strength they need to heal and thrive together.
