Missing Massachusetts man found dead under South Carolina home

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WWLP) – A man from Massachusetts was found dead underneath a home in Sea Pines, S.C. Monday morning.

According to a Facebook post by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, a body believed to be that of 60-year-old Massachusetts man Stanley Kotowski , who was reported missing earlier this month, was discovered in the Sea Pines area on Monday morning.

Authorities were alerted to suspicious activity at a residence in the Sea Pines area, and deputies arrived around 11:30 a.m. During their investigation, police located the body of a man under the home. The body was recovered at approximately 3:30 p.m. and is believed to be Kotowski, who was last seen on August 16th.

The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office is scheduled to perform an autopsy on Tuesday, August 27, to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kotowski’s death is ongoing. Authorities have not released further details pending the outcome of the autopsy.
