    City of Springfield distributes free COVID-19 at-home test kits

    SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The City of Springfield and Department of Health and Human Services has started giving out free COVID-19 at-home test kits.

    Right now we’re seeing a nationwide spike in COVID-19 cases, and as we transition from summer to the new school year, the City of Springfield is continuing to prepare to help keep our communities as safe as possible by handing out free test kits.

    Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris says that it’s important to have prevention intervention and treatment available for everyone across the board.

    Free COVID-19 Test Kits in Springfield

    • Senior Centers in Springfield
      • Raymond A. Jordan Senior Center
      • South End Community Center
      • Indian Orchard Community Center at Myrtle Street Park
      • New North Citizens Council

    Test kits will be available for pick up at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. while supplies last:

    • Springfield Department of Health and Human Services Office
      • 311 State St., Springfield, MA 01105
      • Every Tuesday and Wednesday beginning August 27, 2024
    • Indian Orchard Community Center at Myrtle Street Park
      • 117 Main St., Springfield, MA 01151
      • Every Wednesday beginning August 28, 2024
    • South End Community Center
      • 99 Marble St., Springfield, MA 01105
      • Every Wednesday beginning August 28, 2024
    • Raymond A. Jordan Senior Center
      • 1476 Roosevelt Ave, Springfield, MA 01109
      • Every Wednesday beginning August 28, 2024
    • New North Citizens Council
      • 2455 Main St., Springfield, MA 01107
      • Every Wednesday beginning August 28, 2024

    For those outside of Springfield, starting in late September, Americans will be able to request up to four COVID-19 test kits for free according to COVIDtests.gov .
