ANDOVER, Mass. (WWLP) – Animal control officers were called for a report of an alligator seen on a trail at Deer Jump Reservation in Andover.

“When Dispatch calls you ahead of time and says ‘I hope you’re not busy because I’ve got a good one for you!’ …you know it’s going to be an interesting call!,” said Andover Animal Control in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

ACO Katie along with Officer Seigel and Officer Murray arrived at Deer Jump Reservation and met the callers on the trail where they spotted the reported alligator. In using caution not to get too close, they found the alligator, which turned out to be fake.

Animal Control said that the toy alligator was very well camouflaged and placed to look real. Officers removed the toy so others along the trails would not be frightened.
