    Cheshire man sentenced in connection with stealing computers from Berkshire Healthcare Systems

    PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Cheshire was sentenced to jail in connection with the theft of computers from Berkshire Healthcare Systems during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

    According to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, officers were called on March 25, 2020, by Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) to report the larceny of computers from their IT Center. Items stolen valued at approximately $22,506.56 included 20 new Smart Buy tech items valued over $16,600.

    Two suspects were identified with the assistance of the public, Robert McBain and 37-year-old Eric Guerrin of Cheshire. On Tuesday, Guerrin pleaded guilty to four charges in Berkshire Superior Court. He was sentenced to the following:

    • Breaking & Entering In The Nighttime With Intent To Commit A Felony
      • 2 ½ years House of Correction
    • Breaking & Entering In The Nighttime With Intent To Commit A Felony
      • 2 ½ years House of Correction concurrent with count 1
    • Larceny Over $1200 By Single Scheme
      • 2 years House of Correction suspended for 3 years consecutive from counts 1 and 2
    • Larceny Over $1200 By Single Scheme
      • 3 years probation to run concurrently with count 3

    District Attorney Shugrue stated, “When coming into office, retailers, banks, and other organizations made it clear to me that large-scale larceny was a major issue in Berkshire County. The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office takes cases of large-scale larceny extremely seriously and prosecutes them as such. I commend the Pittsfield Police detectives as well as the public for helping to solve this case.”
