Steady progress has been made on Wylie ISD bond improvement projects, and the next phase of construction will start with demolition of the high school tennis courts.

The Wylie ISD School Board recently approved a demolition bid from MPG Construction. The cost of demolition will total $50,000.

"Just as a reminder, before we can build the new ag building, we have to demolish the high school tennis courts," Superintendent Joey Light said to board members during the July 8 regular meeting.

The contractor believes his team can complete demolition in a 30-day period, Light said.

Construction for Wylie High School's new tennis courts and tennis building was underway Wednesday by the high school softball field.

Other action taken by the board was the approval of accepting electronic bids for future projects.

In the past, the district received physical paper copies for bids, but with the changes to electronic submission, it seems to limit the number of bidders, Light said.

School Board President Miller Loudermilk was not present at the July 8 meeting. Vice President Brad Hill conducted the meeting in her absence.
