    Ohio BCI investigating officer-involved shooting in Xenia

    XENIA, Ohio ( WDTN ) — Ohio BCI is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Xenia that occurred on Sunday morning.

    A large law enforcement presence is on scene in the 100 block of South Orange Street in Xenia. Xenia police officers were called to the area around 7:30 a.m. on reports of a suspect shooting a pistol.

    The initial 911 caller said the suspect had pointed the pistol at the caller. Upon arrival, officers located the subject outside of the apartment.

    “Shortly after the officers arrived on scene, shots were fired and the suspect was injured,” Xenia PD said in a release.

    The suspect was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for their injuries.

    Officials confirm Ohio BCI is handling the criminal investigation. A spokesperson with BCI said that no officers were injured during this incident.

    Crime scene tape was put up near an apartment building on the block. Portions of South Orange Street and Bellbrook Avenue have been blocked off while crews are on scene.
