Dangerous heat and fire weather expected to ramp up after the 4th
Today: Tuesday will be a day with more sunshine compared to Monday, although we’ll still be seasonal. Highs will be in the low to mid-60s in the Cascades and Blues, with low to mid-80s in the Kittitas/Yakima valleys and in the foothills of the Blues. Things could heat-up to near 90-degrees in the Lower Columbia Basin. Just like on Monday, it'll be another blustery one. Winds will mainly gust with a westerly component between 20-45 MPH–the strongest gusts being in the Kittitas Valley.
Yakima County Search and Rescue look for missing hiker on Mount Adams
Friends and family of Sandeep Dey put out a plea on social media asking for help locating him after he went missing during a solo Mount Adams hike this week. According to friends, Dey started the hike around 10 p.m. Thursday, June 27, and summited the mountain at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 28. His friends received their last text from him around this time, saying that he was starting his descent.

Yakima County sheriff's detectives investigating homicide near Grandview
Yakima County sheriff’s detectives are investigating a homicide near Grandview. Sheriff’s deputies were called for a man who had been shot in the 10 block of Bridgeview Road south of Grandview around 2:40 a.m., YSO Sgt. Jason Pepper said. Grandview police secured the scene, and deputies found a man in his mid-30s who was dead in a truck, Pepper said.

There could be a stray thunderstorm, or two, in the Cascades, Kittitas Valley, and the foothills of the Blues–but don’t bank on it. It’ll be a toasty one, but highs will only be a couple degrees above average. It’ll be in the low to mid-60s in the Cascades and Blues, with low to mid-80s in the Kittitas/Yakima valleys and Blue Foothills. The Lower Columbia Basin will flirt with 90-degrees. Otherwise, today will be a breezy to windy one depending on where you are. West-northwesterly wind gusts will gust between 20-45 MPH, with the strongest wind gusts easily being in the Kittitas Valley.
