    Marquise Brown.

The Kansas City Chiefs were hoping to utilize Marquise "Hollywood" Brown a lot this season, with some calling him the steal of the offseason.

But those plans are going to have to wait as the key wideout was seriously injured on the first play of Kansas City's preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Brown caught an 11-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes before being driven into the ground and suffering a shoulder injury.

ESPN's Adam Schefter posted an update from head coach Andy Reid on X after the game. Brown was hospitalized with a "sternoclavicular joint dislocation," according to Reid.

Brown's type of injury, according to the National Institute of Health , was a rupture of ligaments around his clavicle and could have been even more serious if there was any internal bleeding.

ESPN's injury analyst Stephania Bell provided more details and her professional opinion on X.

It's unclear how much time Brown will miss, but it appears Kansas City will have to figure out how to make do without him for the rest of the preseason and possibly the start of the regular season as well.
