As the days go by and Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season quickly approaches, the concern over CeeDee Lamb's holdout with the Dallas Cowboys continues to increase. But while there's been very little public information about the negotiations between the two sides, one of the top NFL insiders offered some reason for fans to rest easy.

During ESPN's NFL Live on Monday, Adam Schefter discussed Lamb's contract situation with the Cowboys and stated that the deal is "going to get done," as Blogging the Boys detailed.

“It would be a huge upset if CeeDee Lamb is not there for the start of the regular season...now I don’t know whether they can bridge the differences, which aren’t that much, this week or next week or the week after. But this deal’s going to get done. It would be shocking and utterly stupid if it did not get done in time for the start of the regular season," Schefter stated.

"So they’re going to figure out a way. It’s disappointing that it went on as long as it did, but the fact that they can’t get this deal done is hard to imagine...It should be simple to get done. And the full expectation is it will get done and it will get done in time for the start of the regular season. So this is just a lot of noise until then.”

Although the Cowboys and Lamb remain at an impass, and Jerry Jones' recent comments citing a lack of urgency won't leave anyone feeling great about the situation, it does appear the two sides may be slowly inching closer to a deal.

Lamb obviously wouldn't be taking part in preseason play regardless, but his absence from training camp isn't ideal for a Cowboys team that has multiple question marks across the offensive side of the ball heading into 2024.
