    Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

The Chiefs retooled their wide receiver room this offseason after leading the NFL in dropped passes (44) last year, signing veteran Marquise Brown in free agency and drafting Xavier Worthy in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

On Monday, Kansas City proved it wasn't done quite yet, either, reuniting with wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

The former Pro Bowler led Chiefs wide receivers with 78 catches for 933 yards in 2022. He also had 10 catches for 89 yards on the way to helping Kansas City win Super Bowl LVII.

Smith-Schuster does come with some risk this time around. The Patriots released the 27-year-old at the beginning of August after just signing him to a three-year, $33 million deal last March.

While New England moving on from Smith-Schuster could be due to it investing second- and fourth-round picks on wide receivers Ja'Lynn Polk (No. 37) and Javon Baker (No. 110) in the 2024 NFL Draft, he has also been inconsistent and often injured since leaving the Chiefs.

In 2023, he registered only 29 catches for 260 yards and one touchdown in 11 games while battling knee issues.

Smith-Schuster did say he felt 100 percent healthy in May.

"It's not easy coming off a knee injury and having a long season and coming back really short," Smith-Schuster said via Jared Dubin of CBS Sports. "I feel great, honestly. I feel great. I've never felt better. I'm just excited to finally be out here around this time and participating."

However, the Patriots must have felt differently.

On the other hand, it is a low-risk, high-reward move for Kansas City. Smith-Schuster brings some depth and upside with his previous success with the team and there won't be a ton of pressure for things to work out on what will likely be a minimum-level deal.

The addition of Smith-Schuster does put a little extra pressure on fringe wide receivers Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney and Justyn Ross to make the 53-man roster nearing cutdown day.
