Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (10) is assisted off the field after an injury during the second half against the Philadelphia Eagles at Neo Quimica Arena.

The Packers might have lost more than a game on Friday night in Brazil.

Quarterback Jordan Love suffered a lower leg injury late in the fourth quarter of a 34-29 loss to the Eagles in San Paolo, and NFL insider Dianna Russini provided an update Saturday morning.

Russini reported that when the team returns to Green Bay, "Jordan Love will get an MRI."

"I'm told an ankle injury has been ruled out at this point," she added. "Right now, it's just wait-and-see for more information on the injury."

Fellow insider Ian Rapoport echoed Russini's report, adding, "At this point, the severity is unknown."

Green Bay's season could hinge on Love's test results.

If he misses games, the Packers will likely start Malik Willis, whom they acquired in a trade with the Titans for a 2025 seventh-rounder pick. The team could also add quarterback Sean Clifford from its practice squad.

Willis started three games as a rookie in 2022 and was 31-of-61 for 276 yards and three interceptions while adding 27 rushing attempts for 123 yards, one touchdown and three fumbles.

While he may have improved since then, there's a reason the former third-round pick was available for a seventh-rounder.

Clifford, selected in the fifth round (No. 149 overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft, has yet to attempt an NFL pass.

Love was by no means his sharpest against the Eagles, finishing the game 17-of-34 for 260 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Per NFL Next Gen Stats , his completion rate was 13.8 percentage points worse than expected.

But Love had similar struggles early last season before leading the Packers to the playoffs and the NFC divisional round.

When Love went down, Green Bay might have gone with him.
