Prestige Senior Living Rosemont’s annual rodeo is back for a free afternoon of country fun, including live music, a barbecue dinner, farm animals and more. The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, July 26.

Hogue & Moore Band will perform for Rosemont residents and families from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and attendees can enjoy pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, watermelon and corn on the cob from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Residents and families can interact with farm animals, including a horse, donkey, goats and pigs. A member of the Washington State High School Rodeo Association will also be in attendance to show off their roping skills.

For children, a professional face painter will be on hand from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.. As well, people can participate in games like ax throwing and a hay dig with prizes available.

Attendees can support the company’s fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association at its bake sale.

“Every year, as a Prestige whole, every single one of the buildings does fundraisers for Alzheimer’s. At the end of September, we go to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and we see how much the buildings raised,” Kylie Woods, Prestige Senior Living Rosemont community relations director, said. “We do a car wash, a big spaghetti feed dinner, a bake sale and any other sort of fundraiser. Last year, we did a bake sale at the rodeo, and we were able to raise $1,000.”

Woods said that Rosemont enjoys providing a free family event for the residents and the local community to enjoy.

“The number one reason is the residents, but a different reason that means a lot to me this year is that the price of inflation has gone up so high that it’s hard for families to go and do an outing together,” she said. “Even going to the movie theater costs $10 to $15 a person, and that can get really spendy. For us, it’s really nice to know that we are able to throw together this event for families to come and eat a good meal, for kids to be entertained and enjoy some face painting, farm animals and the band at no cost.”

Woods advised that parking at Rosemont, 215 Killion Road SE, will be limited and suggests that people park in the back or carpool.

“Don’t assume that there’s no parking if the parking lot looks full. There is a back area to park where we all will be,” she said. “Maybe try to carpool because last year it got pretty busy. Just know that when you come here, you’re at someone else’s home. This is the residents’ home, and respect the property and know that you’re making a difference in the residents’ well-being and lives just by being here.”
