FedEx Donates Mobile Canteen to Salvation Army Southwest Division
FedEx announced it donated a mobile canteen to the Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) vehicle fleet of The Salvation Army Southwest Division, which is based in Phoenix and serves Arizona, New Mexico and Southern Nevada. This is the 24th mobile canteen FedEx has donated across the U.S. and around the world since 2006.
Home prices nearing record territory, with condo prices already there
A recent Las Vegas Realtors report shows local home prices inching closer to record territory, with more homes available for sale. LVR reported that the median price of existing single-family homes sold in Southern Nevada through its Multiple Listing Service during July was $480,000. That’s up 6.7 percent from $450,000 in July 2023. Local home prices are approaching the all-time record of $482,000 set in May 2022.

Reno man who bit another man’s face sentenced to minimum of 1.5 years
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - A Reno man who was convicted of biting another man in the face was sentenced to at least one and a half years in prison. Jaelen Barnes was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and domestic battery in May. A jury found Barnes found held his former partner hostage with a kitchen knife and then bit him in the face in July of last year.
Boyfriend of missing Kings Beach woman and person of interest in Reno homicide arrested
RENO – The boyfriend of a missing Tahoe-area woman and a person of interest in a Reno homicide was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.Kings Beach resident Patricia Portella-Wright was last heard from on Aug. 3, but didn't get reported missing until Aug. 9 when she didn't show up for work.On Wednesday, the Placer County Sheriff's Office announced that they have learned that Portillo-Wright may have last been seen with her boyfriend Brent Clifford. Reno police have also named Clifford as a person of interest in a homicide in their jurisdiction, the sheriff's office says. But by Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff's office said Clifford was taken into custody in the Portola area of Plumas County. However, Portillo-Wright is still missing.Detectives said Clifford was driving Portella-Wright's vehicle, a red 2003 Chevy Blazer, that was last seen heading westbound on Highway 70 from US-395 at Hallelujah Junction on the California side, which led deputies toward Portola. No details about the person who died in that homicide have been released, but the sheriff's office says the person was found dead on Sunday, Aug. 11.People with information on Portella-Wright's disappearance are urged to call the Placer County Sheriff's Office.
