RENO COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — Commissioners in Reno County approved a $1 million loan to provide the town of Yoder with safe drinking water.

The loan funds will be used to connect the rural water district that serves the area to the Hutchinson City Water unless there is a better alternative.

The loan is a 20-year term at a “relatively low interest rate,” between two and three percent.

The money comes from the Kansas Public Water Supply Loan Fund from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Reno County said in March the nitrate levels for Rural Water District 101, which serves Yoder, have “continued to be above allowable limits.”
