After fatal drug overdose, Oregon State Hospital resumes limited in-person visits for patients
Oregon State Hospital will resume in-person visits for some patients on Monday after suspending them in May after a patient died of a suspected fentanyl overdose. Officials at the state-run psychiatric facility suspended in-person visits between patients and their family and friends so the hospital could retool its visiting policies, with an eye toward preventing visitors from passing drugs or other contraband on to patients. The hospital has nearly 700 patients between its main campus in Salem and a smaller satellite campus in Junction City.

Willamalane kicks off annual summer concert series
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Willamalane’s annual Concerts in the Park series is on for the summer, with the fun kicking off on Wednesday night at Island Park in Springfield. Performing at this summer’s inaugural July 17 concert was the Sugar Beets, a Eugene-based band that performed traditional and contemporary bluegrass, folk, and country songs. The concert saw the biggest turnout in several years, according to organizers. Willamalane staff said that, in addition to a good time for attendees, Concerts in the Park is all for a good cause as Willamalane raised $1,000 for its food pantry and collected more than 1,500 pounds of food donations.
