The Yonkers Police Department has arrested a suspect in the shooting incident that claimed the life of Francisco Gordillo.

On February 26 at approximately 5 am, authorities received reports of an injured male in a red pickup truck near Willow Street and Mount Carmel Place. Police discovered the 51-year-old resident of Yonkers, Francisco Gordillo, with an apparent gunshot wound to his head. Despite their efforts to save Gordillo's life, he succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Ludvin Ramos-Cervantes – supplied by the YPD

Investigations led by the YPD's Major Case Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and Digital Forensics Unit revealed details of an altercation that turned deadly. It was uncovered that Gordillo was engaged in an argument with Ludvin Ramos-Cervantes. The 18-year-old Ramos-Cervantes, also a resident of Yonkers, left the scene only to return with a .45 caliber firearm. He fired a single gunshot into the truck where Gordillo sat; striking him in the head.

Yonkers Police discovered and arrested Ludvin Ramos-Cervantes later that day. Ramos-Cervantes now faces a charge of Murder in the 2nd Degree.

YPD Commissioner Sapienza lauded the diligent work of detectives in swiftly bringing the suspect to justice. He further condemned the reckless harm brought by the young accused shooter.

Regardless of the severity of a dispute, escalating the situation by introducing a weapon and resorting to violence is never acceptable.

The case is now in the hands of the Westchester County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.
