Yonkers Idol 2024 Auditions Open for Talented Teens

The City of Yonkers sets the stage for the sixteenth annual Yonkers Idol. This event provides exposure for aspiring singers and talented youth to thrive in the music industry. “ Yonkers Idol is a way for our city to celebrate the incredible singing talent we have her e,” said Mayor Spano.

Last year's competition

After months of rigorous competition—mastering stage performance and undergoing voice training—Brianna Novelino and Okello Allen emerged as Yonkers Idol and Junior Idol of 2023. Allen's “Cry Me A River” and Novelino's renditions of “Sign of the Times” and “I Will Survive” captivated the audience. Since her win, Brianna Novelino continued her music journey with Maxim Records, releasing “ One in a Million ” last September.

Eligibility and Guidelines

Yonkers Idol 2024 is open for ages 15-19 while Yonkers Junior Idol accepts applicants from 10 to 14 years old. Both require contestants to perform one verse and chorus.

Initial auditions occur at Roosevelt High School on April 6 at 9am which lead to the grand finale at Untermyer Gardens on June 15 at 6pm. There, participants will perform a different song aiming to secure their spot to stardom.

Judges select one winner from each category, bestowing the title of 2024 Yonkers Idol. Winners also get the opportunity to perform at city-wide events and receive a $1,000 reward from the Untermyer Performing Arts Council Teresa Fund.
