    York State Fair 2024: How to save money, concert lineup and free entertainment to see

    The 2024 York State Fair is almost here.

    The fair runs from Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 28 this year.

    New free entertainment will include family-friendly Buford Bear, Reptile Adventures and The Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show.

    Some favorite attractions, such as the racing pigs, the model trains and the butter sculpture, will be returning again this year.

    Concerts — and a bull riding show — will be held on the grandstand.

    Food stands will be selling barbecue, funnel cake, cotton candy and other treats.

    Here's what you need to know about the York State Fair:

    How much will it cost to get in?

    Here are the regular admission prices:

    • Ages 18 and older: $10
    • Ages 6 through 17 and college students with ID: $5
    • Ages 5 and under: Free
    • Parking: $10

    Some specials are offered in advance of the opening of the fair. Admission tickets for $6 per person are available until Thursday, July 18.

    New this year is an admission ticket and ride wristband for $25. The promotion is available for Monday through Thursday, and the combination package must be purchased by Thursday, July 18.

    What are the hours of the York State Fair?

    Gates open at 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday and at 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

    How much will the rides cost?

    Fairgoers can purchase tickets or wristbands for the Strates Show rides.

    Here are the prices:

    • 50 cents per ticket
    • $50 for 120 tickets
    • $25 for a wristband on Monday through Thursday
    • $30 for a wristband on Friday through Sunday

    The Midway will be open from 2 p.m. until close Monday through Thursday and noon to close Friday through Sunday.

    Free, dollar day and other promotions at the York State Fair

    If you're looking to save a little money, here are the days when you can get in for free or a reduced price :

    Friday, July 19: Orrstown Bank Dollar Day : $1 admission per person. Strates Show Rides are $1 apiece.

    Sunday, July 21: UPMC Heroes Appreciation Day: Free admission plus one guest for firefighters, police, EMS, veterans, active-duty military, and all healthcare personnel with proper identification.

    Monday, July 22: Senior Citizens Appreciation Day: Free admission all day for seniors with a Medicare card.

    Tuesday July 23: $2 Dollar Tuesday: $2 admission per person, $2 Strates Show rides and $2 food specials all day.

    Wednesday, July 24: Weis Markets Day : Free admission all day with a Weis Markets card. Includes the holder and up to three guests.

    Friday, July 26: Froggy 107.7 Pre-School Pals Day : Free admission from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. for one adult with a preschooler. Kiddie Kingdom ride bands cost $15. They can be purchased until 3 p.m. and the children can ride until 4 p.m.

    Free entertainment at the York State Fair

    A variety of free entertainment will be offered on the fairgrounds.

    Magic On The Farm educate families about where food comes from and what plants need to grow, according to the website .

    Buford Bear is a family-friendly show that involves interaction with children, its website states .

    Danny Conner's Reptile Adventure Show will educate the family about animals.

    The Flying Cortes performs an acrobatic show, and the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show says it "is filled with action packed competition, and plenty of laughter."
