Old world tradition celebrated in Putnam Valley
PUTNAM VALLEY- The sounds of the ‘oom pah pah” band, old fashioned Bavarian and Austrian food accompanied by camaraderie and friendship highlighted a weekend German Fest that attracted hundreds of men, women and children to the German-American Social Club in Putnam Valley where entertainment was provided by the group Spitzbaum.

CARMEL- The Prevention Council of Putnam has initiated a system allowing for the safe disposal of vape products countywide. Despite warnings of the dangers of vaping, the Centers for Disease Control reported recently, e-cigarette monthly unit sales increased by 46.6 percent—from 15.5 million units in January of 2020, to 22.7 million units in December of 2023; prefilled device sales decreased, while disposable device sales increased; and sales of sweet, youth-appealing flavors increased.

Board of Ethics disagrees with Town Board on TB1---I will request that Board suspend implementation
TB 1 prohibits members of Planning Board, Zoning Board and CAC from serving on non profit boards promoting affordable housing. On July 17th the Town Board issued a statement about TB1 –regarding why four of the five Board members (I voted no) voted to enact a new policy prohibiting key members of organizations whose primary function involves land use initiatives from being members of the town’s land use boards and committees.
