During this final semester of the 2023-24 school year, 100% of Yorktown Secondary Culinary Arts Teacher, Mrs. Catherine Ramos’, Advanced Culinary Arts students successfully attained their Food Protection Manager certification, passing a very difficult test and making a commendable achievement in their culinary education. Students who received their Food Manager Certification are: Kasey Gonzalez, Destany Guerrero, Audrena Hernandez, Tommy Perez, Paul Rodriguez, Ruby Rodriguez, Perla Rosales, Camerin Sanmiguel, Braiden Silgero and Gabriella Smith. Following this accomplishment, students were honored with a luncheon at Fogo de Chão on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas, where they had the privilege of engaging with the restaurant manager, Damian Gelacio, who shared insights into his profession, the comprehensive on-thejob training provided by the company, and his experience in the vibrant culinary scene of New York City. The students also toured the Alamo and the Menger Hotel. Ramos said, “I am so proud of my students for working hard these last three years in Culinary Arts! Being able to eat with them at Fogo de Chao was an honor and I will always cherish the memory.”
