At just 13 years old, she swam the 50-meter freestyle race in 25.42 seconds. Her phenomenal time made her the fastest 13-year-old to swim the event in Southern California, which then earned her a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympic trials.

Sailboat Washes Ashore on Iconic Mendocino Beach
Locals and tourists alike were surprised to find a sailboat named the “Not Sure” washed ashore on one of the Mendocino Coast’s most iconic beaches this morning. Sonoma County Advances with Plans for New Government Center and Mixed-Use Development in Santa Rosa

Flora Fire near Geyserville burns 50 acres; firefighters halt forward progress
A vegetation fire in Sonoma County burned overnight after igniting on Wednesday but firefighters gained additional containment and reopened a road that had been closed because of the fire.The Flora Fire was burning on the east side of Chalk Hill Road in Geyserville after igniting at around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday.Cal Fire said the fire burned about 50 acres and forced the closure of Chalk Hill Road between Spurgeon Road and Flora Ranch Road. After stopping its forward progress as of 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters worked overnight to extinguish hot spots and increase containment to 50 percent, Cal Fire said.Chalk Hill Road was back open to traffic as of Thursday morning.There was no word on what started the fire.

It wasn’t the appearance of a flashy, high-ranking California official at the podium, or the review of 35 years of efforts to protect the Bay’s watershed at the beginning of the May 2024 State of the Estuary conference that made me sit up in my red velvet auditorium seat. It was an awards ceremony for outstanding projects. Usually a rather dull procedural item in my experience of half a dozen such conferences, this one’s message was nothing anyone said or put up on the screen.
Gunmen rob Wells Fargo Bank in Danville, steal from customers inside branch
Danville police are looking for three men who allegedly robbed a bank Wednesday afternoon. Police responded at 12:28 p.m. to a report of an armed robbery at the Wells Fargo branch at 585 San Ramon Valley Blvd. Three males entered the bank armed with handguns and demanded items from customers and cash from tellers. The suspects fled the scene with cash in a gray SUV, which was later recovered in a nearby city. The vehicle has been taken in as evidence. Police said no injuries were reported during the robbery.
