3D Printing workshops at the Ukiah Library
Ukiah Library presents Fall 3D printing and design series one Saturday a month on Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9 from 3 to 4 p.m. at 105 N. Main St. Library staff will introduce participants to the basics of 3D printing, including an up-close look at one of our two MakerBot Sketch 3D printers. Participants will also learn the basics of 3D design by completing online tutorials at www.tinkercad.com. After the workshop, you will be able to design your own item and have it printed at the library! Printing times may vary.

California legislature passes bill banning voter ID laws
(The Center Square) - The California legislature passed a bill banning local governments from adopting voter identification laws for local elections. California does not require identification to vote, but earlier this year, the City of Huntington Beach approved a voter ID requirement for municipal elections starting in 2026. First Ukiah Contra Dance of season takes place Sept. 14
The first Ukiah Contra Dance of the season will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Ukiah United Methodist Church Social Hall. Dancing will be to the live music of Fiddler Rodney Miller (member of “Stringrays”) with Rebecka King on keyboard for jigs, reels, waltzes and more. All dances will be taught and called by Celia Ramsey.

The City of Ukiah is conducting a Parks Gap Analysis to assess how well existing parks are meeting community needs, and what might be needed for future parks. In addition to staff analysis, a robust community engagement process will be undertaken. Community engagement will include focus groups, individual meetings, surveys, event tabling, and outreach to City of Ukiah commissions.
Ukiah Dolphins returning to the water next week
The Ukiah Dolphins will launch their fall season next week with coaches Barbara Jordan and Jeff Mindling, program representatives announced. In a press release this week. Mindy Keegan reported that the Ukiah Dolphins, “a cornerstone of our community since 1955,” will begin its new season on Sept. 3, and will have its first fall meet at the “Waves Aquatics Napa Valley Endless Summer Classic in St. Helena on Sept. 14-15.”
City crews work overnight after Ukiah water main breaks Tuesday
A large water main broke late Tuesday evening at the corner of Waugh and Cooper lanes, cutting off water service to many residents for nearly 12 hours. The Ukiah Police Department responded to the intersection around 8:15 p.m. Aug. 27 and quickly blocked off the street due to the water flooding the roadway and buckling the asphalt. Personnel from the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority and the city of Ukiah’s Public Works Department also responded to the incident.

FORT BRAGG, CA., 8/29/24 — Surveillance cameras can be worth the investment. That was the case with an early morning fire at Princess Seafood Restaurant in North Noyo Harbor that caused significant damage to the building but thankfully injured no one.
