YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Columbus-based band with local connections held a release party for its new album Sunday night.

The silent disco-style party for Red Wanting Blue was held at West Side Bowl.

Everyone listened to the rock band’s new album “Light It Up” over headphones in sync.

Attendees got to eat some pizza and hear the band play live.

Drummer Dean Anshutz graduated from YSU and lives in Boardman.

He says the band has a strong connection to Youngstown and wanted to come back because they’re inspired by the work ethic of its residents.

“Our band is the same — we put everything we have into it,” Anshutz said. “It’s the same for Youngstown. It’s not a thing where people are getting money or things handed out like in a bigger city. People are putting everything they have into what they’re doing here.”

Red Wanting Blue was formed in 1996 and is headquartered in Columbus.
