YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Chaney High School Athletics Hall of Fame is returning after a 15-year hiatus and is seeking nominees for its 2024-25 induction class.

Chaney’s Hall of Fame currently includes 158 members, including prominent names like Heisman Trophy winner Frank Sinkwich and former NFL quarterback Matt Cavanaugh. Both of them were part of the inaugural class of 18 inductees in 1988.

Other inductees include former Major League Baseball player — immortalized in the “Handshake For the Century” photo — George Shuba, as well as legends Sylvester Patton, Ron Berdis, Jerry Olsavsky, Herb Lake, Michael Zordich and Ed Matey to name just a few.

For more information or to submit a nomination before the Oct. 30 deadline, email Joe Fanto at jfanto@yourpremierbank.com or Chris Sammarone at sammarone@zoominternet.net.
