YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – As both the demolition work and road construction continue, Youngstown city leaders are hoping to address one complaint they’ve been hearing for years -having convenient parking downtown.

Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown announced the city will soon open a lot across from 20 Federal Place on Commerce Street for free parking. The lot had been set aside for those working at 20 Federal, but that building is closed and under renovation.

In the meantime, a moratorium has also been placed on people being ticketed downtown.

“There are no tickets being issued by the city for parking, but please respect the construction zones or any other sites you shouldn’t park in, but the meters have been removed at this time,’ said Julius Oliver, Youngstown City Council member.

Both the councilman and the mayor urged downtown workers to leave street parking for those visiting downtown shops, bars and restaurants.
