KINGS COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A 50-year-old man died after he abruptly applied his brakes while riding a Harley Davidson south of Hanford, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP says on Wednesday at around 4 p.m. officers responded to Kansas Avenue, west of 10 1/2 Avenue for a crash involving a motorcycle.

Investigators say the man was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Kansas Avenue at an unknown speed approaching 10 1/2 Avenue. CHP says the motorcyclist abruptly applied their brakes causing the motorcycle to crash and ultimately lie down on its left side.

The motorcyclist and his motorcycle came to rest in the eastbound lane at the intersection of Kansas Avenue and 10 1/2 Avenue.

The cause of this crash is still under investigation. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash, CHP says.
