FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Faith-based organization leaders are being invited by law enforcement to an event in which they will be able to learn how to address security threats and other skills.

The event, which officials say is free to the public and with an emphasis on inviting leaders of faith-based organizations, will provide attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to address security threats and vulnerabilities.

According to officials, this will enable them to enhance their organization’s preparedness, reduce the impact of incidents, and safeguard the well-being of their congregants. Attendees will receive active assailant training, learn de-escalation tactics, and acquire “Stop the Bleed” lifesaving skills.

Additionally, sheriff’s officials say Cal-OES will share information about California’s Non-Profit Security Grant, which provides support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements to non-profit organizations at risk for violence and/or hate crimes.

The event will be held at the Peoples Church at 7172 N. Cedar Avenue in Fresno on Aug. 23 from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Guests who wish to register can do so by clicking here.

The Safety Symposium will be held by federal, state, and local agencies, including the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal-OES), and more.
