Several vehicle burglaries prompt investigation in Madera

MADERA, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – An investigation is underway after officers say they received several reports regarding vehicle burglaries in Madera on Wednesday.

Police say these reports indicate the vehicle burglaries occurred during the early morning hours, but the exact area in which these burglaries took place was not disclosed.

Because of the incident, officers gave residents some tips to be protective of their property. Those are:

• Remember to lock your vehicles and keep your keys in a safe place.
• Remove valuables from your vehicle or keep valuable items hidden out of sight.
• Utilize anti-theft devices such as car alarms as a layer of defense against theft.
• Call the police if car alarms, barking dogs, or alerting sounds from your vehicle are heard during the night.
• Park in well-lit areas or areas known to have video surveillance.
