    PSP warns of scammers impersonating law enforcement, asking for money

    ( WJET/WFXP ) – State police warn of scammers after an Erie County woman sent money to unknown individuals who claimed to be law enforcement.

    On Wednesday, June 12, Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Erie responded to a reported theft around 6:12 p.m.

    Erie County business scammed out of more than $500,000

    According to police, a 57-year-old Summit Township woman sent $250 to scammers who she believed were law enforcement.

    Following this incident, PSP would like to remind the public that law enforcement will never ask for money and any phone calls relating to this information are a scam.
