    Things to do: Lace up your shoes for annual Firecracker Races on the Great Guernsey Trail

    Dust off your running shoes and enjoy a scenic race along the Great Guernsey Trail July 4. Starting at the Corduroy Road entrance to the trail, the third annual Firecracker Races will include a 10K and 5K race and a 5K Fun Run and Walk. Registration starts at $30 through July 3, and the price will increase to $35 on race day for the 5K events. The 10K is $35 through July 3, then increases to $40 on race day. The money raised will help improve the Guernsey County Community Development’s Great Guernsey Trail and Coal Ridge Park areas. To register visit www.runsignup.com and search Great Guernsey Trail.     Rock show

    Check out two bands for the price of one at The Barn on Sunday. For a $10 cover charge, enjoy the music of Rock the Planet, which is celebrating 10 years in the music biz, and 50 Years After, which will kick off the day at 4:30 p.m. Rock the Planet will play from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. For more information call 740-455-2276.     Stars and Stripes

    The Zanesville Jaycees will once again celebrate America's birth on July 3 and 4 with Stars and Stripes on the River. There will be food trucks, kids inflatables, adult beverages, and, of course, fireworks. Stop in on the 3rd and enjoy adult beverages available from 3 to 10 p.m. Events kick off on July 4 at 11 a.m. with the grand fireworks display at dusk.     Kids program

    Join the Johnson Brothers on Friday at the John Humrickson House in Coshocton for an extraordinary journey entitled the Grand Tour. According to the press release, "...young adventurers will traverse the globe as the Johnson Brothers, the founders of JHM, once did in the 1800s." Kids will learn about science, art, and music across Europe, Africa, and Asia. Programs are best suited for kids ages 3-5 and 6-12. There is a $1 admission charge for each program. Register now to take part by calling 740-622-8710. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is at 300 N. Whitewoman St. in Coshocton.

    After Pride party

    Join Sasha Bloomingdale and friends as they celebrate the Zanesville Pride event at the afterparty. Those who are 21 over can visit the newly opened Taste of Ohio Wine, Bourbon and Beer and grab a tasting card. There is a $5 cover charge for the event. Tickets for the party will be available at the afternoon pride event. There is a one-time fee of $5 for a reloadable card to enjoy the self-serve bar. DJ Laid Back will keep the hits coming from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Then join friends the next morning at the 10 a.m. brunch with mimosas and bloody Marys. Taste of Ohio is located at 524 Main St., in downtown Zanesville.
