New wine trail traverses Muskingum, Guernsey and Coshocton counties

ZANESVILLE − Muskingum County is offering yet another opportunity for locals and tourists alike to experience what makes Appalachia great with the inaugural Wild About Wine Trail with stops in Muskingum, Guernsey, and Coshocton counties.

“We’re really excited about it,” said Kaitlynne Peters, marketing specialist with the Zanesville-Muskingum County Convention and Visitors Bureau . As soon as the bureau posted the wine trail to its website they received more than 39 requests for the guide, Peters added.

Interested wine and beer connoisseurs can download the trail guide from the Visit Zanesville website or pick one up at the Welcome Center, 205 N. Fifth St.

The guide contains information on 14 wineries and breweries, along with QR codes to each location's website. It also offers suggested routes, additional attractions, and a sheet to record your progress through the trail.

Peters said some stops offer special discounts for those who are taking the tour.

“This is a great way to position southeastern Ohio as having great wine and beer selections,” said Peters. “I think it promotes in-state tourism with awareness. People get comfortable and have no idea these types of opportunities exist here. It’s also giving Appalachia more of a chance to show that we offer so many of the same things that you can get in bigger cities, too. You can travel here and enjoy these things but in a different and beautiful part of the state.”

Here is a short description from the guide on each winery and brewery offered on the trail:
