The Zimmerman City Council has passed a resolution to grant municipal consent for the Highway 169 and County Road 4 interchange project to move forward.

Bolton & Menk Project Manager Beth Engum presented the City Council with details of the project and its costs.

The city is responsible for a contribution of $430,000, which covers city-approved aesthetic improvements to the overpass, roundabouts, landscaping and so forth.

The total cost of the project is $63.7 million. Most of the cost will be covered by the INFRA Surface Transportation Program, which will contribute $24.7 million, and the MnDOT Freight Investment Program, which will contribute $10.8 million.

Construction plans were reviewed for the Highway 169 interchange project in May, and final plans will be submitted in August. Construction is projected to begin in summer 2025, and to end fall 2026.

Among the proposed improvements is a noise wall along Fremont Drive.
