Extended projects and Huron Street delays: Washtenaw County road work for June 28
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI - As people gear up for holiday travel, Washtenaw County roads and freeways are continuing to see traffic interruptions from summer construction. Expect delays on Huron Street in Ann Arbor with many of the projects running until August. Construction on South Fifth Avenue from Packard Street to Hill Street has been extended through Aug. 30 for a utility relocation project.
Washtenaw ACA says more housing near U-M medical campus will benefit disabled residents
The Washtenaw County Association for Community Advocacy says finding appropriate housing for the disabled around Ann Arbor continues to be a major problem. The ACA made a presentation this week to the Ann Arbor Commission on Disability Issues and asked for its support to encourage more housing for disabled residents who want to live on their own.
‘I actually should raise it’: Judge won’t lower bond for coach accused of choking teen
YPSILANTI, MI – A judge on Thursday declined to lower the bond for a former Ypsilanti Middle School employee accused of choking a student with his shirt. Joshua Smith, a 30-year-old Ypsilanti resident originally from Canton, appeared in custody June 27 in front of Washtenaw County 14A District Judge Cedric Simpson.
Saline aviation business seeking tax exemption on $8M expansion project
SALINE, MI – An aviation industry supplier is asking for a tax exemption extension for its Saline campus. Liebherr Aerospace, a Switzerland-based company, develops aircraft flight control, landing gear and on-board electronics. The company proposed a 35,000-square-foot extension to its campus on Woodland Drive in Saline and asked for a 12-year tax reduction extension for the property.

Rival fans made fun of Michigan football’s recruiting class just a few short weeks ago but Rivals is not.
