An arrest has now been announced after a situation with a barricaded suspect in the Upstate, Sunday morning. The Greenville County Sheriff's Office says 44 year old, Melissa Dawn Jones was watching a friend's child at a home on New Bruce Road in Greer.

When the mother arrived to pick up the child, Jones reportedly refused to give the child back. The Sheriff's Office was called in and when they arrived, Jones was barricaded inside with the child. Jones then allegedly threatened deputies and a single shot was fired from inside the home.

After a short while, Jones came out of the home with the child and was taken into custody. Jones was taken into custody, she's charged with kidnapping, threatening a public official, multiple weapons violations and other charges.
