One dead and another in custody after shooting at Upstate courthouse

One person is dead and another is in custody after a shooting in the parking lot of an Upstate courthouse. The Laurens County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting at the Courthouse on Hillcrest Square, around 3:15 Monday afternoon.

Investigators say that the incident involved two men who had been in the same court hearing and exited the courthouse at the same time. The suspect 32 year old, Stephen Andrew White of Laurens reportedly ran over the victim with his car in the parking lot and proceeded to shoot him.

The Laurens County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 34 year old, Erin Lee Thomas of Woodruff. White was immediately taken into custody without incident. He's currently being held at the Laurens County Detention Center.
