Early Indianapolis Colts vs Houston Texans Preview

Last year the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans split the season series with each team winning on the road. The first game is often forgotten about because of the magnitude of the week eighteen loss for the Colts.

After a long offseason of talking between C.J. Stroud and Zaire Franklin, the two teams are finally about to begin their 2024 NFL seasons. Here is some of their comments toward eachother

Stroud shredded the Colts secondary in both starts.

• Game 1 – 30/47 384 yards 2 TDs 0 INTs
• Game 2 – 20/26 264 yards 2 TDs 0 INTs

Most of Stroud’s production came in the second half with Indianapolis leading 28-10 at halftime. The former Ohio State Buckeye went 22/32 in the second half for 274 yards with one passing touchdown.

When it comes to Houston, they had a very expensive offseason. They added Joe Mixon, Stefon Diggs, Azeez Al-Shaair, Folorunso Fatukasi, and Danielle Hunter. They went from a team that surprised a lot of people by winning the AFC South, to a team that people expect to win the AFC South.

Indianapolis on the other hand, it hoping that Anthony Richardson stays healthy and pushes the Colts to the playoffs. They did help Richardson by adding Adonai Mitchell and banking on Alec Pierce and Josh Downs improving. Defensively is a huge question. A lot of growth is to be had in the secondary outside of Kenny Moore II and Julian Blackmon.

It depends on who you ask, but there are people that would consider these two teams rivals.

Most of the time rivalries brew from playoff clashes like the Buffalo Bills or Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs in recent years.

When it comes to the Colts and Texans, they will begin their season on Sunday, September 8th at 1pm eastern at Lucas Oil Stadium.
