Popular Restaurant Closes 3 North Carolina Locations Amid Market Challenges

Hooters has closed three of its North Carolina restaurants and dozens more across the country. The Atlanta-based chain known for its wings and waitstaff in low-cut tank tops has shut down over 40 underperforming locations.

In North Carolina, restaurants in Greenville, Jacksonville, and uptown Charlotte are no longer listed on the company’s website.

• Remaining Locations: Carolina Pavilion (South Boulevard, Charlotte), Concord, Gastonia, Raleigh, Morrisville, Burlington, Fayetteville, Greensboro, and Wilmington.

Company Statement and Future Plans

In response to the closures, Hooters stated that they made the difficult decision to close select underperforming stores due to current market pressures. The well-being of their staff is a priority in these cases.

Despite the closures, the brand remains resilient and plans to continue opening new locations domestically and internationally. They are also launching new Hooters frozen products at grocery stores and expanding into new markets with both company and franchise locations.

Industry Context

Hooters is not the only chain facing challenges. Red Lobster recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, which could lead to the closure of more than 100 restaurants.
