The Tennessee Vols are attempting to steal a 2025 football commit from the Alabama Crimson Tide.

2025 five-star linebacker Darrell Johnson committed to Alabama on March 20, but it looks like he hasn't completely closed the door on his recruitment just yet.

According to On3 , Johnson will take an unofficial visit to Tennessee this weekend. He also has official visits lined up in the coming weeks for UCF, Alabama, and Auburn.

Johnson, 6-foot-1/200 lbs from Eastman, GA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 3 linebacker in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of Georgia. He's also rated as the No. 27 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

Tennessee is set to host several big-time recruits this weekend for their 865 Live event. Five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr and five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench are among the recruits who will be in Knoxville this weekend, along with five-star Vols quarterback commit George MacIntyre.

Suffice it to say, it's a massive Memorial Day weekend in Knoxville for the Tennessee football program.

As for Johnson and the Vols, the talented linebacker told 247Sports last month that Alabama has always been his dream school, so it'll likely be tough for Tennessee to flip the five-star recruit. But the Vols are still taking a shot. And the big recruiting weekend in Knoxville is an ideal setting for a potential flip to happen (the Vols are hoping that Johnson at least schedules an official visit after his unofficial visit this weekend).
