Fans of the Indianapolis Colts have been begging that the team sign free agent safety Justin Simmons for nearly the entire offseason.

While he remains a free agent, Simmons is set to visit the New Orleans Saints on Wednesday, according to Nick Underhill of New Orleans.Football.

Sources told A to Z Sports that the Colts are one of multiple teams pursuing Simmons . But them having interest isn't enough to get a deal done. With Simmon's first free agency visit on the calendar, the Colts have to put their pursuit of the free agent into high gear before it's too late.

It is also important to say many free agency visits end with the player leaving without a signed contract. Simmons could have a short list of teams he plans to visit with before ultimately making his decision, and the Saints are just his first of multiple stops. Or he could have his eyes strictly on New Orleans and is entering this visit with the mindset that he is going to become a Saint.

The thing we do know is that he wouldn't be taking the time to visit the Saints if he wasn't interested in joining the team. The Colts have a clear advantage over the Saints regarding available cap space for the 2024 season. According to Spotrac, the Colts have just under $25 million, and the Saints have just over $9 million. So, if the Colts wanted to get aggressive in their pursuit of Simmons, they could easily outbid the Saints.
