Oklahoma Sooners release a new uniform that may look very familiar to fans

The Oklahoma Sooners football team is one of the more historic schools in the sport. They have won a handful of National Championships, sent more players to the NFL than you can count, have conference championships in every conference they have played in, and have plenty of Heisman Trophy winners throughout the years as well.

Oklahoma is one of those schools that is the standard in football. And, they know that. Have they been lately? Not as much as they were prior. However, they are getting back to that, and in the process, they are going to look good doing it, too.

A lot of the historic schools in football don't change their jerseys much. Look at Alabama, USC, and Penn State -- three teams who don't change their jerseys at all, with two of them not even having names on the backs of the jerseys.

But, it's always good to have some change every once in a while. The Sooners have the Unity jerseys, which represent something awesome and amazing with the history of the university. They once had the creme and red marble uniforms , and are now adding another one.

The jersey on the new ones will mostly look the same besides a three-stripe decal on the shoulders. But the helmets, those are very different. They are all white with no logo or number on the side, and just a red stripe down the middle.

The uniforms have white pants to top it all off. The uniforms as a whole are to honor the Wilkinson era. And, to me, they did a perfect job doing so.

Too many teams have come out with throwback uniforms and butchered them. I think that this is one that they got right, as the Oklahoma Sooners usually do, especially in the Jordan Brand era.
