The Las Vegas Raiders and the rest of the NFL are implementing new rules this season. Sure, there is the new kickoff rule that we have seen be somewhat successful. However, other rules have nothing to do with the play on the field.

The NFL is implementing facial authentication in all NFL stadiums this year. Allegiant is one of those.

“They’re going to take your biometric data—your face, and they’re going to use that however they need to. And they’re going to extend that to their NFL family partners to use your information should they need to,” The president of the Las Vegas Police Protective Association, Steve Grammas, said in a video sent to officers this month . “That branches into a lot of places that your biometric data could be exposed to, a lot of people that you may not want it to be.”

This is causing a huge grift between the police department and the NFL. Every team needs police and security to help maintain things at games. If they didn't have that, it would be chaos and mayhem.

Everyone would get away with breaking every law known to man. So, police at games are crucial. The LVPD is arguing that facial recognition is not.

“You want us to work and secure the facility, we’ll do our job. But I don’t need to have my biometric data given up to the NFL just to do so,” Grammas said in the video.

This technology was in just a few stadiums last year, and will be in every single one this year. So, the question still stands, what will the Raiders do?

These concerns by the police are valid. And, it really makes you think about the direction the NFL is heading. What will happen next? It's definitely something to continue monitoring.
