The Ole Miss Rebels could be just a few days away from securing a major commitment from one of the best running backs in the 2025 cycle.

Shekai Mills-Knight , out of The Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been in Ole Miss' crosshairs for some time now. Mills-Knight checks in as a four-star prospect as the No. 18 running back in the country and is the No. 7 player out of the Volunteer State.

On Tuesday, Mills-Knight announced that he will be making his college decision on Saturday, Aug. 17. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound phenom has narrowed his list down to five schools: Ole Miss, Alabama , Auburn, Tennessee , and Miami, per On3's Chad Simmons.

The Rebels are currently believed to have a leg up on the competition. Running backs coach Kevin Smith has been tabbed as the primary recruiter and has positioned the Rebels for one of their biggest pickups of the summer.

Ole Miss' 2025 recruiting class ranks 24th nationally, according to On3. However, Lane Kiffin and the Rebels have been slowly gaining steam with four-star wide receiver Dillon Alfred committing earlier in the month. With the addition of Mills-Knight, Ole Miss will be prepared for the future at the running back addition with a senior-laden group ready to pound the rock this fall.
