Colts star RB Jonathan Taylor shares who he believes is the team's X Factor is

Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor joined the Up & Adams show on Tuesday to discuss multiple storylines surrounding his game and the team as a whole.

One thing Taylor shared is who he thinks is the Colts' X factor on the offensive side of the ball, and he chose someone who impacts the game from the sideline.

Taylor shared that he believes Steichen is the Colt's X Factor. He shared that he coaches and calls play on the offensive end "like a player in the game." He spoke to the "grittiness" and the "edge" Steichen possesses as a head coach and, most importantly, the responsibility Taylor sees his head coach put on his own shoulders when it comes to building a game plan to win each football game.

Last year was Steichen's first year as a head coach in the NFL, and his ability as a play caller and offensive mind shined throughout the season. Early in the year, we saw how creative and innovative he could be with a player as dynamic as Anthony Richardson. But it was his ability to adjust and keep the Colts' offense creative and effective with backup QB Gardner Minshew under center that impressed me the most last season. Typically, when a team loses its starting quarterback, it turns its focus to the next season. Not Steichen and the Colts, though, who battled down the stretch with backup Gardner Minshew after losing Richardson in Week Five to a shoulder injury that would place the rookie QB on the IR. To the surprise of nearly everyone their solid play put them in position for a win and get in the playoff situation during the final regular season game of the year in 2023. A game the Colts would go on to lose to the Houston Texans after a failed fourth down conversion attempt in the red zone.

Richardson is back this year, and the team also has a healthy and motivated Jonathan Taylor. The duo only got to play a handful of snaps together in 2023, but everyone around the team is pumped to see these two form one of the deadliest one-two punches in the run game in the NFL . With Steichen in charge of scheming the offense around both players, the ceiling of the team's run game seems endless. And the more successful the run game is, the easier it will be for the Colts to open up their passing game with Richardson under center.
