Tennessee Vols WR Chris Brazzell II has short but bold comment that reinforces encouraging statement from Josh Heupel

Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel made a bold statement about his wide receiver group this offseason when he talked about the depth of talent he has at the position.

"Without a doubt the deepest we've been at the wide receiver [position] in our tenure here at Tennessee," Heupel said back in April .  "Those guys handle it the right way. They're highly competitive. They've made a bunch of plays throughout the course of spring ball."

That's no small thing to say.  The Vols have had some truly excellent wide receivers in his three seasons so far that have ended up on NFL rosters.  Jalin Hyatt, Cedric Tillman, and Velus Jones, Jr. are all in the league.

However, Vols WR Chris Brazzell II sees NFL futures ahead for a lot of the Vols' wide receivers.  The transfer from Tulane spoke with the media on Wednesday and had a lot of praise for his fellow position mates.

"Shoot, I think everybody, honestly," Brazzell responded to a question about NFL talent among the Vols' WR unit. "Bru, Donte, Squirrel, Chas.  I think honestly, God-willing, everybody on that roster is going to be in the league someday."

Tennessee will indeed have a good problem to have this fall: too much talent for the number of starting spots on the field.  Behind veterans Bru McCoy, Donte Thornton, and Squirrel White (and Brazzell), the Vols have a handful of young and promising wide receivers in freshmen Braylon Staley and five-star Mike Matthews and redshirt sophomores Chas Nimrod and Kaleb Webb, among others on the roster.

It really is an embarrassment of riches at the position for Heupel this year.  And, if Brazzell is correct about his assessment, it could be the start of a pipeline to Tennessee receivers finding themselves on NFL rosters for years to come.
