    Panthers land special teams stalwart in latest flurry of roster moves

    Depth is the name of the game when it comes to the defensive back room .

    On Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers signed defensive back Rudy Ford after a tryout. To make room for Ford, Carolina waived defensive back Clayton Isbell, according to reports on the team website .

    Additionally, Carolina released defensive end Kemoko Turay from the injury reserve list.

    Ford, coming from Auburn, was a sixth-round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2017. He played two seasons in Arizona before a short stint with the Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars and two seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

    Before his pro career, Ford was a star at New Hope High School, Ford was a three-year starter in the Auburn secondary.

    For most of Ford's NFL career, he has lived as a special teams ace. He reached a career-high with 626 defensive snaps in 2023 when he started the first seven games and played 100 percent of the defensive snaps in six.

    He's appeared in 86 games, claiming 203 tackles, 12 passes defended and six interceptions.
