A former NFL quarterback is predicting that the Indianapolis Colts will hit rock bottom in 2024

The Indianapolis Colts are approaching their preseason finale, which will be this Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Up next is their regular season opener against their division rivals , the Houston Texans. With the season so close, you will see multiple people in the NFL space sharing their record predictions for each team.

Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert, current NFL analyst for SleeperHQ, shared his via his personal X account, and it included an incredibly disrespectful record prediction for the Colts.

Benkert predicts the Colts will finish last in the AFC South with a record of 4-13. He has them finishing as the second-worst team in the AFC and tied with the Minnesota Vikings with the third-worst record in the entire NFL.

While my personal prediction for the Colts in 2024 is drastically different from Benkert's, I understand those who are skeptical about the team. Their offense is one of the youngest in the NFL, and their secondary on paper projects to be a big weakness. But I don't understand how someone could predict them to finish this poorly.

The Colts are returning every starter from last year's team, which ended the year with nine wins, just one win away from winning the AFC South and punching their ticket to the playoffs. Even more impressive, they did so without their starting quarterback, Anthony Richardson, for most of the season.

To put a four-win season into perspective, the Colts managed to win four games and had a tie during their disastrous 2022 season, which involved the team starting three different QBs (Matt Ryan, Nick Foles, and Sam Ehlinger) as well as firing head coach Frank Reich and hiring Jeff Saturday.

You can call me an optimist if you want. But I have a hard time seeing this year's Colts team coming anywhere close to being as bad as that awful team we watched in 2022. So I'll comfortably take the over on Benkert's win projected win total for the Colts.
