The Tennessee Vols football program caught a stray on Friday morning during NBC's broadcast of The Today Show .

Country music singer, and noted Georgia Bulldogs fan, Thomas Rhett joined the show to perform, and to also promote his new album, "About a Woman", which was released on Friday.

During his appearance, Rhett was asked about the start of the new college football season. And Rhett, who is married to a Tennessee alum, mentioned that he's surrounded by Vols fans, before throwing a little good-natured shade at UT.

"I was born in Valdosta so I grew up a die hard Bulldogs fan," said Rhett. "But I'm surrounded by Tennessee Volunteers. And my wife would say 'this is our year' -- they say it every year! But we (Georgia) have won two national championships in the last three years."

Rhett may bleed Georgia red, but he's been known to rock the orange and white from time to time.

Rhett even mentioned earlier this summer that he bought a Vols Hendon Hooker jersey the last time he was in Knoxville.

If 2024 ends up finally being Tennessee's year and the program wins a natty, I have a feeling we'll be seeing Rhett wearing orange once again.
